Principal product manager Sameer Doultani recapped recent Microsoft Cost Management updates. AKS cost views are generally available in Cost analysis, announced at Kubecon in Paris. Microsoft added fleet workload placement for schedule workloads, auto renewal for Azure Reservations, the upcoming retirement of the connector for AWS, and a variety of new capabilities in Cost Management Labs.

Technical fellow Victor Bahl revisited Microsoft’s recent developments in Azure for Operators. Microsoft continues to try to support customer interest in OpenAI AI offerings. The company has divided AI and machine learning investments into four categories: reactive management, proactive management, AI and ML for Azure for Operators, and AI and ML engineering platform across Azure for Operators. To serve these different competencies, Microsoft has introduced data intelligence copilot for operators, the next generation communications copilot with a question-and-answer interface. Additionally, Microsoft is serving the same needs with network configuration anomaly detection and its responsible AI framework.

CTO Mark Russinovich shared similar themes in a blog post about memory leak detection with AIOps. In modern cloud operations, memory leaks can affect performance. To address the issue Microsoft is introducing RESIN, an end-to-end memory leak detection service to spot leaks with its system workflow. Detection algorithms spot noisy memory usage and fail-slow faults. He wrote:

Operating a cloud infrastructure at global scale is a large and complex task, particularly when it comes to service standard and quality. In a previous blog, we shared how AIOps was leveraged to improve service quality, engineering efficiency, and customer experience. In this blog, I’ve asked Jian Zhang, Principal Program Manager from the AIOps Platform and Experiences team to share how AI and machine learning is used to automate memory leak detection, diagnosis, and mitigation for service quality.

CVP Corey Sanders discussed the growth of cloud computing in Malaysia. A number of organizations have entered into cloud partnerships with Microsoft in Malaysia. For instance, national energy company PETRONAS hosts the BeDigital Bootcamp with Microsoft, working to upskill students for cloud. Poultry company Chop Cheong Bee uses Azure to calculate feed for meat conversion ratios for its chickens, while Bersama Malaysia is working to train citizens for cloud technology.
