AMD and Microsoft focus on confidential computing

Microsoft and AMD are collaborating to broaden confidential computing and offer confidential VMs based on AMD EPYC 7003 series processors. This pairs with confidential containers for Azure Kubernetes Service, and allows options to create confidential apps without code changes.

The VMs are fully encrypted at runtime. Keys are created by a dedicated secure processor on the EPYC CPU. Microsoft Azure CTO Mark Russinovich wrote:
