Azure pros discuss shifting Web Apps between App Service plans, the latest changes to Azure Active Directory, and making sense of App Service monitoring.

Shifting Web Apps between App Service plans

Microsoft MVP Gregor Suttie, writing on Azure Greg, shared a recent customer interaction. The customer wanted to know why it was not possible to move Azure Web Apps from one App Service plan to another. Suttie looked into the matter. Currently, Microsoft restricts moving apps to source plans and target plans in the same resource group or geographic region, with the same OS type. Additionally, plans can only move between webspaces (created on the backend by Microsoft) within the same region. He wrote:

So to check this I went to each App Service Plan and on the overview screen you can click on JSON view and there you can find the JSON property called “webspace” and they had differing values. So if you ever run into this issue you can check this webspace setting and that just might be the issue. I am blogging this in case I ever come across this again and I forget what to check.

The latest changes to Azure Active Directory

Microsoft MVP Sander Berkouwer, writing on The Things That Are Better Left Unspoken, recapped the latest wave of Azure AD changes announced in February. Microsoft is planning a new public preview groups experience to more easily manage groups. This feature will add sorting and filtering, a full listing of group members, and an overview page for membership.
