Van Oord and Ansys partner to develop wind turbines

Van Oord and Ansys have partnered to develop new wind turbine foundations, together with Ansys' partner Infinite Simulation System B.V., using Ansys Mechanical and Ansys Cloud. Simulations that previously took a week to run can now be run over the course of a night, using Azure compute resources.

"Historically, these massive models each required 150 hours to run, however, with Ansys Cloud, our team has reduced run times to less than 24 hours per simulation. This has substantially sped up product development, enabled us to expediate our negotiations with foundation steel suppliers and expedited delivery to our global customers," said Ralph Luiken, engineering specialist at Van Oord, in a statement.

Harness offers integrations for Azure and other cloud providers

Software delivery provider Harness announced that it is offering integrations with Azure, as well as AWS and Google Cloud for DevOps teams to run multi-cloud software deployments. The company aims to provide he first CI/CD and cloud cost management platform able to span the three largest cloud providers.

So far the company supports Azure VM Scale Sets, Web App, and Gov Cloud workloads.

"We're noticing a direct correlation between containerized software deployments and the move toward cloud-native architectures. As more enterprises look to do more with their software and reduce infrastructure costs, they're turning to multi-cloud architectures to improve uptime, avoid vendor lock-in and gain price leverage. With these integrations, Harness is answering that call, providing an abstraction layer between cloud deployment complexity and developers, so every company can deliver next-generation software faster than ever," stated Jyoti Bansal, CEO and co-founder, Harness.
