Azure Security Center for IoT is now generally available, with Microsoft hailing it as the first IoT security service from a major cloud provider equipped to detect, prevent and remediate attacks on edge computing devices, gateways, and Azure IoT Hub. As with Security Center more broadly, the new system draws on six trillion signals Microsoft receives daily to notify of potential misconfigurations and vulnerabilities and conduct fixes. It can be connected with the Azure Sentinel security information and event management, or SIEM, system as well as other SIEMs.

In explaining the launch, Microsoft cloud and AI security CTO Michael Braverman-Blunmenstyk pointed to high-levels of IoT spending growth, as reported by IDC, with double digit growth anticipated until the $1 trillion mark in 2022.
