Azure Updates: Data center architecture; AI tools; Migrate; Infrastructure as Code

Microsoft CTO Mark Russinovich kicked off a week of announcements by highlighting his recent “Inside Azure Datacenter Architecture” session at Ignite. The session focused on AI for IT Ops (AIOPS) and covered topics like networking and ARM updates. The talk provides insights on the private preview of Azure Chaos Studio, Microsoft's chaos engineering and fault injection offering.

Gartner named Microsoft one of the leaders in its Magic Quadrant for Cloud AI Developer Services, together with IBM and Google, slightly outflanking AWS. The report indicated that Microsoft is very flexible with its partner network and is making strides in conversational AI with its Bot Framework. However, it did offer a few cautions:

Microsoft focuses its citizen developer AI offerings on its Power Platform; for instance, PowerBI [sic] and Power Virtual Agents. While Power Platform has prebuilt connectors to industry systems, the separate positioning of the citizen platform may force upon companies an enterprise roadmap for which they were not planning… enterprises planning projects should model the expected production loads to better anticipate the costs once the trial period is over. This is particularly true with multicloud implementations.

Among geographic updates, HBv3-series VMs are generally available in East US, South Central US and West Europe. Container Registry is now available in Norway ...
