Creating building automation solutions with Azure

Demand for building automation solutions has grown steadily over the last three years, and a lack of occupancy, or difficulty getting personnel on-site during the coronavirus pandemic has spurred increased interest from customers. As use cases for both automation and IoT have improved in this space, Microsoft partners have been simultaneously building atop Azure services and navigating their relationships with Redmond to capitalize on the opportunities.

Switch Automation has designed its building automation solution on a range of Azure services, and worked with Microsoft to execute a go-to-market plan. Peter Rake, the company's global director of integration told MSDW about Switch's journey with Azure.

Switch found a home for its varied IP on Azure, focusing on the commercial property management sector. Rake explained:
