Esri, the maker of ArcGIS and other geographic information system technology has partnered with Microsoft to use Azure to centralize satellite image analysis.

Esri will provide image processing and analysis within Azure Orbital, Microsoft’s Satellite Ground Station as a Service offering.

Azure Orbital ingests satellite data directly into Azure for processing with compute, storage, and AI services. Esri cited a need to reduce latency as a key motivation for this partnership, the latest in its 20 year history of working with Microsoft.
