During the Ignite 2022 conference, Microsoft announced Cloud for Sovereignty. With the new offering, Microsoft and its partners plan to support resiliency, security, scalability, and data control for governments and private sector customers subject to data residency requirements.

“We provide global coverage with more than 60 data center regions and 124 availability zones across 35 countries. That's more in-country regions than any other hyperscale cloud provider…[With Cloud for Sovereignty] government customers can harness the power of public cloud and its full spectrum of capabilities, like modern services, Agile infrastructure, secure DevOps, open-source platforms, modern collaboration, and low-code development,” Vasilios Karagounis, GM for Sovereignty at Microsoft said.
