Microsoft to construct new datacenters in Georgia

Microsoft is building out its Azure infrastructure for the Eastern US with the upcoming addition of the East US 3 region centered on two datacenters in Fulton and Douglas County, Georgia. The announcement fits in with a broader pattern of cloud expansion in the US. Microsoft inaugurated Availability Zones for the South Central US region and launched West US 3 in Arizona.

In addition to the expansion of its datacenters, Microsoft announced the purchase of 90 acres of land to create its Quarry Yards and Quarry Hills campus in the Atlanta-area.
