Vendor Invoice Recording (Part 1 & 2)

On his Dynamics AX Finance & Controlling blog, Ludwig Reinhard wrote that over the past couple years, he has noticed that companies record and process their vendor invoices in different ways.

Reinhard wrote that some users mentioned that the standard invoice recording tools in Microsoft Dynamics were not sufficient, while others said that they were too complicated. And once, someone even told Reinhard that the standard tools in Microsoft Dynamics AC can't be used because "everybody" said they're not mature enough.

However, beginning with this post, Reinhard wrote that he would illustrate how expense-related and purchase order-related vendor invoices can be processed in the standard Dynamics AX/Dynamics 365 for Operations application.

You can find out how here.

In the second part of his series on vendor invoice recording, Reinhard provided an example of how vendor invoices can be recorded in Dynamics AX/365. His example centers around Nicole Holiday, a marketing employee who ordered some marketing materials via email.

After she receives the materials, the AP department receives the vendor invoice and a clerk manually enters it into the pending vendor invoice form. After recording all the data related to the invoice, the AP clerk initiates the invoice workflow.

You can see how to post the invoice in Dynamics AX/365 here.
