Microsoft has expanded Defender for Cloud protections to Google Cloud workloads.

By default, Defender for Cloud will provide 80 out-of-the-box recommendations for security best practices. This includes support for GCP features like Cloud Storage Buckets, multi-factor authentication, and cloud SQL database connections which do not require SSL for incoming connections. Additionally, Microsoft extended container protection to GKE Standard clusters.

"The support for GCP was designed as an integral part in Microsoft Defender for Cloud, so that organizations can understand their security posture across their connected cloud environments from a single place," wrote Microsoft partner group product manager Gilad Elyashar.
