Microsoft introduces Cloud Partner Program, replacing Partner Network model
March 16 2022
Microsoft will reset their partner program starting in October 2022 with new designations focused on six solution areas and related specializations.
The partner program will transition from today's Microsoft Partner Network to become the Microsoft Cloud Partner Program, Microsoft channel chief Rodney Clark revealed today.
"This change better reflects the enormous and ongoing transition of business operations to the cloud, and how Microsoft intends to support partners in the future," Clark wrote in a blog post announcing the change.
The new program goes into effect on October 3, 2022, but Microsoft will be giving partners about one extra year to join into the new model. September 30, 2022 is the last day that a partner can renew their existing Microsoft Partner Network membership for another year.

Sorry partners
Microsoft with another attempt at ridding itself of the partners it inherited from the purchase of Great Plains. To the remaining few who pride yourself on providing services to your business clients with the products they purchased, kudos. Sorry you are being screwed.
Wish I could help you by throwing away hundreds of thousands of dollars of ERP so I could rent all that "digital transformation," but as you know being a successful business means understanding the lack of ROI on what Microsoft is forcing you to sell. Eventually in the following decades Microsoft will get to its goal of American companies with no IT staffing and fully dependent on outsourcing/cloud, but for now the partners will pay their prices.
