As companies accelerate their cloud migration to Microsoft Azure, challenges arise quickly around cost, visibility, security, optimization, and the need to refactor line-of-business applications. Customers can take a range of steps to improve the health of their cloud-based IT posture like leveraging automation, guardrails and guidelines, as well as investing in Azure and third-party visibility tools to improve outcomes.

Victor Mushkatin, CEO of Microsoft partner VIAcode, has worked on application monitoring for more than two decades, both at Microsoft and in the channel. The company launched 20 years ago under the name Alex and Victor Code, after its two cofounders, but shifted to its current name along the way. The company began with an app monitoring platform that Microsoft bought in 2010. Mushkatin joined Microsoft for eight years, heading the Azure Monitor and Application Insights teams as a GM. Leading is own company again, he still works closely with Microsoft, leveraging management packs and supporting Cloud Center of Excellence teams.

He talked to MSCloudNews about some of the common experiences of organizations that are still early in their cloud journeys and his advice on how they can mature into efficient and successful Azure customers.
