The new year, 2023, is now underway. As the Microsoft Azure community closed out 2022, many looked ahead to the big updates that the new year will bring. So far, announcements have remained relatively sparse in the first week of January, although a few notable details have come to light.

Over 100,000 developers took part in the Future Ready Champions of Code program to get Microsoft certifications. The program launched in December, 2022 focused on the Indian market. Developers also took part in the Innovate for India’s Growth hackathon. “India’s developer community is one of the youngest and fastest growing in the world and we continue to empower them with the richest set of technologies and platforms to enable their dreams and to build for the future,” stated Aparna Gupta, Executive Director, Customer Success, Microsoft India.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also addressed developers at a summit in Bengaluru. “Ultimately, for me, it is about being able to put the power of all this technology into the hands of other technologists and developers, so they can go on to create more technology that has a real impact in the world, across every small business, large business, non-profit and public sector. At the core, we are a company that gets up every morning to build better tools for developers so they can build more technology,” he stated.
