Dynamics 365 ERP CVP Muhammad Alam announces departure from Microsoft

Microsoft corporate vice president for Dynamics 365 Muhammad Alam will be leaving the company, he announced recently.

The Microsoft veteran took on a product leadership role in 2017 after thirteen years in various other roles related to Dynamics AX and F&O. In 2018 his product responsibilities grew to cover Dynamics 365 Business Central, Project Operations (and the earlier Project Service Operations), and Commerce.

"This was probably one of the hardest decisions I have had to make in a long, long while, but one I know is the right one for me personally and my family," Alam wrote in a LinkedIn post. "Microsoft and Dynamics have been such a big part of my life over these 16 years that it still feels a little unreal that I am leaving, but I do so with a great sense of pride over what we have accomplished together through these years."

Before his current role, Alam held leadership positions on the Dynamics 365 Solution Architecture team and in the Americas Microsoft Consulting Services organization. He is also credited with the building out the Dynamics 365 FastTrack organization within engineering.

Alam has overseen the D365 Finance and Operations product lineup during a period of extended transition as challenges like AX upgrades and migrations, SaaS lifecycle management, data management, product packaging, and branding continued to evolve. Over that time, Microsoft has also continued to enjoy consistent double-digit growth in the multi-billion-dollar Dynamics 365 product lineup.
