1910 Genetics, a Boston-based biotech company specializing in large and small molecule drug discovery, announced a new five-year partnership with Microsoft to leverage AI and high performance computing. The two companies plan to combine 1910’s wet lab biological data and existing compute power with Azure Quantum Elements.

To overcome pharmaceutical data scarcity problems, 1910 draws on three different data streams to do atomistic modeling, biological assays, and next-generation sequencing. It plans to deliver these capabilities to customers in a Co-discovery, Co-engineering, and Platform-as-a-Service model. These results, they believe, could reduce the time and cost of new drug discovery.

“Azure Quantum Elements brings the most powerful AI engine created to facilitate this new AI for Scientific Discovery wave. Together with 1910, Microsoft is charting a course for a billion-dollar business in AI-driven drug discovery and development,” stated Zulfi Alam, Corporate Vice President of Quantum at Microsoft.
