Microsoft and the Belgian government announced Digital AmBEtion. Intended as a multi-year investment in Belgian private and public sector digital transformation, the plan calls for Microsoft to open a new datacenter in the country to support data residency requirements.

The new datacenter will support EU Data Boundary requirements, as well as provide for AI, ML, compute, networking, database, analytics, and Availability Zones capabilities. In-country enterprises like NMBS-SNCB, Belgium’s national railway, intend to carry out Mobility as a Service projects with the new datacenter.
