Oracle and Microsoft announced Oracle Database@Azure, a way for customers to directly access Oracle database services running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, deploying in Azure datacenters. Together, the two companies aim to deliver the availability of Oracle Database on OCI with the security and scalability afforded by Azure.
Through the expanded partnership, customers will gain new ways to leverage data with Azure OpenAI Service, according to the two companies. Customers will be able to move Oracle databases to cloud more readily, access new pricing and performance, build cloud native apps, and achieve improved latency and security.
Joint customers voicing support of the announcement included Fidelity Investments, PepsiCo, Vodafone, and Voya.
"We have a real opportunity to help organizations bring their mission-critical applications to the cloud so they can transform every part of their business with this next generation of AI. Our expanded partnership with Oracle will make Microsoft Azure the only other cloud provider to run Oracle's database services and help our customers unlock a new wave of cloud-powered innovation,” stated Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO, Microsoft.
