Bentley Systems announced an expanded strategic alliance with Microsoft. The two companies aim to advance infrastructure for urban planners working on smart city and smart construction projects. The alliance will combine Azure Maps and IoT Digital Twins with Bentley's iTwins platform to create city-scale digital twins.

Microsoft Teams also plays a role, positioned to help infrastructure engineers coordinate.

Bentley Systems specializes in engineering software, intended to help planners design road and rail networks, along with utilities and infrastructure.

Currently, Bentley Systems is working with the Dublin City Council in Ireland to a large-scale digital twin for the city. Similarly, it is working with FC Barcelona to plan upgrades for the area surrounding its Camp Nou stadium.
