Azure ExpressRoute

Microsoft has broadened ExpressRoute availability and streamlined the setup process for Dynamics 365 enteprise apps, according to a new blog post by Microsoft senior product marketing manager Winston Hait. ExpressRoute provides a dedicated private connection between an organization's infrastructure that is on-premise or hosted and its Azure infrastructure.

The updated availability "[removes] all exceptions and streamlined the process to set up and configure" ExpressRoute, according to Hait. Access covers all enterprise apps for Dynamics 365.

Microsoft made ExpressRoute for D365 for Operations available in November 2016 for Azure deployments. And the company first announced plans to offer support for Dynamics CRM Online in late 2015. And as Dynamics CRM Online (now D365 customer experience apps) came online in various geographies like the UK and India, ExpressRoute support was also offered.

D365 customers that are part of the "FastTrack for Dynamics 365" program can use it to add ExpressRoute, Hait advised. Other D365 customers should open a open a regular support ticket through the MOP portal or through Lifecycle Services.

Once set up with ExpressRoute, a customer can connect not only to Dynamics 365 apps in Azure but to other software and services including Office 365, Azure Active Directory, and more. Microsoft introduced ExpressRoute support for Power BI in April 2016.
